THE FOUNDATION

WHAT WE BELIEVE

ABOUT TYFH

In 2019, a group of six members from the Yamashita family sought to give back to their community in Hawai`i. With hard work and dedication, The Yamashita Foundation of Hawai`i (TYFH) was created in 2020 to provide funding and support for local education in Hawai'i.

TYFH’s logo encapsulates the essence of The Yamashita Foundation of Hawai`i. The Yamashita family crest is encircled by five koi fish. Each koi fish represents the five Yamashita cousins who banded together to create the Foundation. The cousins are all yonsei or fourth generation Japanese Americans from Hawai`i. The five koi fish also symbolize the fifth generation or the next generation, and the Foundation strives to create a better Hawai`i for the next generation.
